Arts are essential in developing character and supporting the mission and philosophy of Sacred Heart School. Music, theater, and visual arts provide an avenue for students to uniquely express themselves and understand the value of arts as a part of our shared humanity.
The music program is designed to nurture and grow every student's musical ability, recognizing that every student possesses the ability to create beautiful art. Our desire is to provide our students with a well-rounded music education that allows students to perform both vocal and instrumental music in the culmination of a Christmas and Spring concert. Students will also be introduced to the songs that will be incorporated in monthly mass and liturgical celebrations.
The theater arts are essential to a well-rounded liberal arts education, enabling students to use the stage to bring truth and light to the world. Students in grades 1-4 will participate in a weekly theater class that introduces them to the basics of theater, including performing and stage crew tasks. Students can elect to participate in after school theater which will present a fall play and spring musical. Overall, our theater arts program creates courage, self-confidence, self-expression, and creativity in our students.
The art program is intertwined with faith as students create for His kingdom and believe in God’s call for beauty and truth. Through drawings, paintings, and other visual arts, our students are enabled to express emotion, intuition, and become independent thinkers who experience a deepened faith through the arts.
